What an awesome 26 day holiday. I took well over 2000 pictures, and did up a 15 page essay about the trip. I will try to give you a short summary here.
We flew into Paris, France and rented a car. Our first stop was in Besancon, France, for two nights.
Then it we were Lake Como. This meant driving through Switzerland. We planned a stop at, Joux castle, near Pontarlier, France, and then a stop at Interlaken, but we stopped at Darligen, just before Interlaken. We then proceeded to cross over the Swiss Alps and got turned back, because the road was closed, and we had to take the long way around.
We spend the night at a lovely hotel called, Hotel Villa, in Argegno, on Lake Como.
Then it was off to Venice. We stayed at the campground, Camping Ca’Savio, near the Punta Sabbioni ferry on a beautiful sandy beach for two nights, and took the Ferry to Venice. I took so many beautiful pictures, I’m having a hard time deciding which one to share. I will share the picture of the vantage point that I have previously done two paintings from.
Then unto Ravenna, which at one time was a lagoon town, like Venice, then to Rimini, a beach like resort town, and ending the day in the world’s smallest country San Marino.
After spending the night at San Marino, at the lovely Hotel Joli, we carried on to Silvi Paese, where we spent the night at Hotel Florida.
After our stay along the Adriatic Coast, we were off further down the coast to Peschici, Gargano National Park, and stayed at a wonderful campground Grotta dell’ Acqua along the beach there.
From here we were off to a VRBO we had rented for 3 nights in Pimonte, Italy. The owners were a wonderful couple whom we enjoyed very much and have become friends. There place was a great location, to see Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast.
We left Pimonte went off towards Rome, where we had booked a cabin at Village Flaminio Nuova Rome, for two nights. We then spent a day touring Rome.
We are then off to Florence with lots of stops along the way, spending the night in a campground in Sienna.
After our night in the campground in Sienna we were off to Florence with a few more stops.
From Florence. Italy, we headed to Cinque Terre, where we found the most amazing campground off a tunnel, Campsite Smeraldo. We stopped for 3 nights, and checked out Moneglia, the town we are close to. We also took the train and ferry to check out 4 of the 5 villages that make up Cinque Terre.
After a wonderful three nights at Campsite Smeraldo, we were off to a hotel in Antibes, France, checking out the Italian Riviera coastline along the way.
After a lovely evening in Antibes, France, the next morning we take a walk around Capd’Anibes and head towards Normandy France, stopping for the night in Saint Victor.
After our night in Saint Victor, we headed towards Normandy, but made a stop at Chateau de Chenonceau.
We find a lovely hotel on Courseulles-sur-Mer, which is within a short walking distance to the Juno Beach Centre.
After leaving Juno Beach, we stopped at the Canadian grave site, and then carried on along the coast for awhile, and then decided to head to Eveux France for two nights.
In Eveux, France, everything was closed on a Monday, but we find an awesome flea market. It had everything you could want.
We had picked Eveux, as it would be close to Versailles, which we headed to early Monday morning, only find out it was closed. Happily, we were still able to wonder around the gardens. From there we headed to Park Asterix, for our last two nights.
Not that we are interested in Park Asterix, but we had a great room there, and they had an excellent buffet breakfast and supper. It was also in a good spot for day trips. The first day we headed out to Chantilly, to the Domaine De Chantilly.
On our last day we took a drive out to Raray.
We flew home from Paris, and I have now relived our vacation many times, sorting through all my pictures and trying to remember what we did each day. For more pictures, please check out my business Facebook page. Artist Donna Muller, Donna’s Gallery.
Now it’s time to create some great paintings.
